Bay State Stonewall Democrats Endorse Seth Moulton for Congress
In response to U.S. Supreme Court announcement, Moulton says "We cannot rest until all Americans enjoy equal rights under the law"
Salem, MA – Today, Bay State Stonewall Democrats announced their endorsement of Seth Moulton, Marine veteran and Democratic nominee for Congress in Massachusetts' 6th Congressional District.
"Both as Co-chair of Bay State Stonewall Democrats and a resident in the 6th CD, I am pleased to state that Seth Moulton is very supportive of LGBT issues, especially the decision to include transgender workers in the Federal ENDA proposal which is stalled in the current Congress," said Steve Iannaccone. "Seth is a truly exceptional candidate on LGBT and other Democratic progressive issues, and we are proud to endorse him."
"On this historic day, I am honored to have the support of the Bay State Stonewall Democrats," said Moulton. "This endorsement means a lot to me personally because I am a longtime supporter of LGBTQ rights. I advocated for the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' as a Marine, I support passage of the Employer Non-Discrimination Act, and will fight for equal rights every day in Congress."
Earlier today, the U.S. Supreme Court denied review of several pending same-sex marriage cases, paving the way for marriage equality in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin and Colorado.
"I'm thrilled that the Supreme Court has rejected appeals on same-sex marriage bans in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin, paving the way for marriage equality in 30 states and the District of Columbia," said Moulton. "We have come a long way since Massachusetts led the nation in marriage equality in 2004, but we have much more work to do. For the first time, Americans in a majority of U.S. states are able to marry the people they love. But millions of Americans still face unconstitutional barriers to their pursuit of happiness. We cannot rest until all Americans enjoy equal rights under the law. This is the civil rights fight of our generation, and we will prevail."
