Mayors Bruce Tobey and Tom Costin Among Nine to Pledge Support for Moulton
Salem, MA – Today, Seth Moulton, Democratic candidate for Congress in Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District, announced endorsements from nine former and current elected officials, including former Mayors Bruce Tobey and Tom Costin.
“I’m honored to have the support, and ultimately the trust, of these leaders from across the sixth district,” said Moulton. “They have all earned the trust of their communities, and I am humbled to earn their support as well. The easy thing to do is support the incumbent; few have the courage to stand up and say that it’s time for a change. These proven leaders recognize that we need a new generation of leaders in Washington to change the way Congress does business. Today, we stand together and say that the time for change is now.”
Moulton, who has been on the campaign trail since July 2013, has raised $1,076,361 in the first three quarters in the race. He has met with veterans, families, business leaders, and others in each town across the district.
“I’m proud to support Seth Moulton,” said Bruce Tobey, Gloucester's longest-serving mayor and six-term city councilor. “Whether in the military or as a business leader, Seth Moulton has proven that he always puts others first to get the job done. I know he’ll do the same in Washington, and I look forward to working with him to win this race and represent the people of Gloucester and the sixth district in Congress."
“Congress is broken. We need new leaders with new ideas to bring real change to Washington,” said Barry Sinewitz, Peabody City Councilor. “Seth is a true leader. He will work to fix Congress and bring needed change to the families of our community.”
“Gridlock in Washington is preventing progress. We can’t expect a different outcome if we keep sending the same people down there,” said Tom Costin, former Mayor of Lynn. “Given what’s happening at the VA, we need people in Congress who understand the plight of those veterans who need the most help. It’s refreshing to see a new generation of leaders, like Seth Moulton, who will work to fix our economy, improve our schools and ultimately find a way to move our community and country forward.”
